Gemini Award for Spence-Thomas
Saturday, October 20, 2007
We are very proud to announce that this past week, the Gemini Award for Best Sound In a Comedy, Variety or Performing Arts Program was given to Richard Spence-Thomas, Gary Vaughan, Danny Greenspoon, Peter Hamilton, and Jamie Sulek. The program Gospel Challenge- eps 6 - The Concert was produced by Riddle Films inc. and aired last summer on Vision Television. The show follows three of Canada’s top choir directors as they form 3 gospel choirs of amateur singers in just one week. The culmination of their efforts is a large scale Gospel Concert in Toronto. Audio for the entire series was recorded in 5.1 channel surround sound by Gary Vaughan and Richard Spence-Thomas. Boom operation was handled by Darren Laberee (also the series lead video editor). On the big concert day we were thrilled to be joined by Danny Greenspoon and Peter Hamilton of The Audio Truck Inc. The concert was expertly recorded in the truck on 48 tracks of Pro Tools at 24bit 48khz. Months later, after an extraordinary music and picture edit by Darren Laberee and his team, the program was mixed at STAP Theatre One by Jamie Sulek and Richard Spence-Thomas. This program, as is the case for most others of this nature with which we have been involved was completed in 5.1 channel surround sound, and delivered in regular stereo for broadcast. The Award Winning team would also like to thank Laura Davies, Teresa Morrow and Yuri Gorbachow for their contributions to the finished soundtrack.
